Important Easement Vote Coming

Hi neighbors — we have an important update to share regarding the property directly beside our pool house, and we need everyone in Copper Creek to participate in the upcoming vote. The official ballot should be released within the next 48 hours, and your voice truly matters.

A homeowner has purchased the land next to our pool house and is requesting an easement to tap into our existing water and natural gas lines located on Leigh Creek Road near the pool parking lot. Because these utilities are part of our shared community infrastructure, Copper Creek homeowners must vote to approve or deny the easement, per our bylaws.

As part of their request, the homeowner has offered a one‑time $7,500 donation to the Copper Creek community if the easement is approved. One early idea discussed is using these funds to keep the pool house and bathrooms open year‑round, but this is only a preliminary concept. Any use of funds will be discussed openly and ultimately put to a community vote.

This decision also gives us a rare opportunity: we can directly influence who becomes our neighbor on the property bordering our amenities. This is a unique situation where our community has a say in shaping the environment around us.

Technical Details (Clear & Verified)

The easement would be used only for access to:

  • City water from Greenville Water
  • Natural gas from Piedmont Natural Gas
  • No other utilities are included or planned.

Both Greenville Water’s Engineering Development Supervisor and Piedmont Natural Gas’s Commercial & Residential Development team have reviewed and approved the proposed tap locations. They confirmed:

  • No concerns regarding flow, pressure, or system performance
  • The impact is equivalent to adding one additional home within Copper Creek
  • The only requirement is our community’s approval, documented through the easement vote

The adjacent property currently has no affordable access to city water or natural gas without major infrastructure work, which is why Copper Creek was approached.

Meet Our Soon‑to‑Be Neighbors — The MacLeans

We’re pleased to introduce William and Lesely MacLean, who will be joining the area as our new neighbors.

  • Long‑time Greenville residents since 1988
  • Simpsonville residents since 1994
  • Currently living in Sycamore Ridge, where they built their home in 2002
  • Their daughter, Sarah, is a Hillcrest and Wofford graduate and former D1 volleyball athlete
  • William recently retired from General Electric after nearly 43 years in the Gas Turbine and Wind Turbine divisions, finishing as a global Engineering Manager
  • Lesely works for GE as a Master Scheduler for Engineering
  • They have several friends already living in Copper Creek

The MacLeans are building a new home designed to meet significant health‑related needs for Lesely, which their current home can no longer support. They are grateful for the opportunity to build close to a community they admire, while maintaining privacy and accessibility.

They’ve already met several Copper Creek residents and expressed their sincere appreciation for our community’s consideration of the easement. They are committed to being respectful, engaged neighbors who maintain their property to the standards we all value.

What’s Next

The official vote should be released within the next 48 hours, and we strongly encourage every homeowner to participate. This decision affects our utilities, our amenities, and the future of the property bordering our pool area.

More details — including the full proposal and voting instructions — will be shared shortly.
